Wine weekend in Bergamo
Visit charming Bergamo and taste the wines in Valcalepio and Franciacorta
Come and enjoy a nice wine weekend in Bergamo! This charming town is located around one hour northeast of Milan and just below the Alps. The original town center was built on a hilltop and were protected by strong city walls that still exist. Nowadays it’s called Bergamo Alta (upper town) and is nearly completely free from traffic. It’s really nice to stroll around among the charming streets and squares with its ancient palaces and nice little shops.
The newer part, Bergamo Bassa (lower town), with its wide boulevards were built in the beginning of the 1900. The upper and lower parts can easily be reached with the city’s cable railway.
Combine the charming town of Bergamo with the excellent wines in Valcalepio and Franciacorta during a nice getaway!
Wine tour with private minibus to the nearby wine district of Valcalepio where we will visit a beautiful wine castle. On the same site there was a medieval castle from the 13th century and one of the old towers is still intact. The farm has a long tradition of wine production and after a tour at the castle it’s time to visit the wine cellar. We will taste four of the excellent wines.
Wine tour to the famous wine district Franciacorta situated just south of the beautiful lake Lago d’Iseo. Here are some of Italy’s best sparkling wines produced, often compared with the French champagne. We visit a winery where Franciacorta wines has been produced with great passion for many years.
During a full day tour it’s possible to include both Valcalepio and Franciacorta and have lunch in a winery or in a nice trattoria at the lake!
