Trekking in the untouched wilderness a few hours from Rome

The wild heart in central Italy: Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo is an incredibly beautiful area consisting of different mountain ranges in the landscapes of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise with peaks from 900-2.200 m. The river Sangro flows through the central part of the park and there is an artificial lake and a natural lake on 1.600 m whose water also comes from the snow melt.
The most well-known animals that live in the park are bears, wolves, mountain goats, deer and eagles.

In the national park we can customize a program of hiking, trekking or with mountain bikes.

Hiking with an English speaking Alpine guide: “When you get closer to Monte Meta, you will be enchanted and fascinated by the beauty of the landscape. The woody slopes give way to green Karst fields and steep rocky hills. A rugged and wild environment, even more special because of the rock partridge’s song and the silent flight of the Golden eagle. On the peak, your breath will stop and the view will become spectacular. You will overlook the main mountain ranges of the Apennines and, on clear days, looking past Monte Cassino, you might be able to see the sea.”

Or in the area of Val di Rose or Valle Jannanghera where you can do trekking and sleep in a mountain hut:
Tales of wolves and flocks of sheep on pasture in the mountains: “Milky way shines above us, fireflies dance in the wood, wolves howl near us. Walking in an enchanting wood, we will observe the plateaus in which wolves live until the sunset. Then, several tales will keep us company during the dinner, in the shelter, near the fireplace.”

The mountain huts have a capacity for maximum 10 persons.

The wilderness in central Italy offers many possibilities of hiking, trekking, wildlife watching and nature photograph tours far away from more famous and crowded trails. The itinerary can be customized according to wanted degree of difficulty with accommodation in nice smaller hotels in the charming mountain villages (or in a mountain hut). Private transfer can be organized from the airport of Rome.
